Here’s what happened to me: When I first got a quote for my move, they estimated $4,000. I told them that was too high, and the next day they called back offering to cut it to $2,000. It sounded like a great deal, so I agreed and gave them a sizeable deposit. What they didn’t explain was that they only arrived at the lower price by reducing the cubic footage estimate from 700 cubic feet to 350 cubic feet—but they never told me they made that change. The day before the move, someone called to review my inventory, and suddenly the price started creeping back up to the original $4,000. That’s when I realized the cubic footage estimate in the contract wasn’t based on what I told them I needed. I take some responsibility for not double-checking the cubic footage in the contract earlier, but what really set me off was that the itemized list in their own contract doesn’t match the cubic footage they claimed. To verify, I uploaded the list to ChatGPT, and it suggested I’d need at least 500 cubic feet—not the 350 cubic feet they quoted me for $2,000. They clearly underestimated from the start to make their price look good, only to raise it later when it was too late for me to find another mover without losing my deposit. I’m convinced this is a deliberate tactic—they train their reps to underestimate cubic footage and use that to secure deposits, knowing they’ll likely raise the prices later. I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone. If you do consider them, double-check everything and don’t trust their “discounted” quotes.

Read More ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SERVICE. This is hands down the WORST company I’ve ever dealt with. I was originally going to rent a U-Haul, but they talked me out of it by saying they were only a couple hundred dollars more and that it was worth it to have “professionals” handle everything. They reassured me multiple times that the price they gave me was final and that certain fees would be waived. That was not true. Their estimate originally included things like a long carry fee, but I specifically questioned it. I literally measured and counted the distance from my apartment door to the elevator and outside to make sure. I was told clearly that I was “good” and that the fee would be waived. Then the actual movers showed up (a completely different company) and immediately said they had to charge the long carry fee—no exceptions. On top of that, they added charges for crating items, bubble wrap/packing materials, and even claimed my dressers were too heavy and required additional fees. None of this matched what Menard had promised. At that point, you’re stuck. You’ve already paid a non-refundable deposit to Menard (who is just a broker), and the movers don’t see that money. So your only options are to pay the inflated price or lose what you already paid. This is a classic BAIT-AND-SWITCH. They tell you whatever you want to hear to lock you in, then the real costs hit when it’s too late to back out. I don’t believe any of the good reviews are real—they don’t reflect what actually happens. The real experiences are in the detailed negative reviews, and they’re all consistent. Save yourself the stress and just go directly with a real moving company or rent a truck. Anything is better than dealing with this.
