Best for long distance move

Midland van lines has done a great job with my long distance move recently. I cannot ask any more from them because they moved me very smoothly and peacefully and within the given time. AVOID AT ALL COST!

Midland Van Lines will move your stuff from A to B. The quality of the move is debatable. The sales people will blatantly lie about additional charges even when asked directly. Your quote will skyrocket once the movers arrive. If you question it, you get told the sales person lied to you. Once your business has been gained, good luck getting a follow up until right before the move as the Customer Care is poor. The movers who took my bedframe apart broke every joint and screw (no exaggeration) so the bedframe could no longer be reassembled when delivered to my new home. I noted the damage on the delivery sheet per instruction of the driver. When I contacted Midland about compensation for the broken bed, apparently my noted issue along with my signature and the signature of the driver on the delivery confirmation receipt wasn't enough evidence for them to bother looking into the matter. I received a single sentence response stating they wouldn't move forward reviewing my claim. My suggestion is to scour the language in the contract and don't let the sales people mislead you that what you read means something else. Be prepared to not be compensated if something breaks in transit. I hope everyone reading this has a better move experience than I did or finds a different company.

Worst Experience with a Mover in my life

When planning a move, some things might seem obvious. You want to get a price for getting your belongings packed, placed on a truck, and delivered safely to your new home. You might also consider guarantees regarding the possibility of a loss due to damage or misplaced items. The quality of all of the work being offered also matters. Well, Midland Van Lines fell far short in every category and many others. Beware! This company is NOT a moving company with trucks and workers that are hired and supervised by a corporate structure. The fact is that the moving company business consists of movers and those who contract with movers. Midland will work very hard to convince you, if you inquire, that they are a full-service moving company. Do NOT believe them. They are a contractor. We saw two different trucks and two different crews. The competence of each crew was also quite different. Read their contract carefully if you are foolish enough to hire them. Two items stand out. They cover loss by paying by the pound but charge for the move by the cubic foot. They pay 60 cents a pound for damaged items. They do not cover any furniture made with fiberboard, such as almost all furniture sold by IKEA. Midland Van Lines failed to give me a set price. They gave me an estimate, called one week before the move, and altered it based on exact descriptions of items. They then upcharge for that change. We refused to accept the higher estimate. On the day of the move, the contract states that you shouldn’t allow the movers to place any items on the truck until they give you a guaranteed final price. They refused. Now what could we do? We were stuck. So, delay our move? Not possible in almost any scenario, right? So, we let them load the truck. When finished, they said, we will either lower or raise the price based on the final cubic feet calculations. Did we get to measure? No, we had to trust them. The contract meant nothing. The increased cost was $1282.80. Now, about our move. They lost items and couldn’t find them. They delivered items that weren’t ours and didn’t attempt to recover them for their owners. They refused to cover the loss because of that fiberboard clause. They offered a $50 courtesy payment for my loss of over $450 of items that didn’t arrive. Two different moving crews and trucks were involved in my move. I paid three different entities, and only one was Midland Van Lines. The others were all contractors. You will find many reviews of this company, and they will all include some version of our story. Hire a company that gives you a set price, reasonable guarantees for loss, and has equipment and crew hired by them. This usually means someone local. Beware, some companies are NOT local and have similar or the same name as local companies. We believe our move was unsatisfactory due to the upcharge and undelivered items.

I loved how they dealt with every situation

This moving company is very experienced and skilled. They have a solution for everything. The day they came to work, the lift was not working. They did not mind at all and they moved everything by the stairs. They packed everything so well that nothing got damaged. On delivery, they could not get the furniture in from the door. You know what they did? Somehow, they got it in from the window! It was so amazing! I have never seen such an amazing crew. I will use them again and I will recommend them. Not only were they late, but they brought a truck that was too small for my belongings. They ended up cramming everything in so tightly that several items were crushed. My wardrobe was completely broken, and they refused to take responsibility. Do not hire them unless you want your stuff ruined.

Nice work guys

I now know why Midland van lines has so many good reviews! They are truly brilliant! They do move you absolutely stress free and easily! My recent long distance move with them went so well! There were no damages, no extra fees and no mistakes. All was delivered timely and they also offered to help at the new place and did not charge me for it. These guys are efficient, caring, helpful and very professional. I had the best move of my life. I will use them again and I will recommend them to all!

Positive experience

I had a positive experience with Midland van lines. They gave me a good deal and moved me like a king! The moving team came on time and packed everything up very quickly. All the glassware, fragile items and expensive items were nicely packed and moved. The furniture was also nicely carried and moved. Not a single dent and not a single damage! I really loved how everything was returned back to me in one piece. My experience was great! I highly recommend this moving company!

Bad Service.

Low ball initial bid doubled. There were additional charges added at every step of the process. Even though the booking agent knew my final delivery address would require a "shuttle", I was never informed of this until 2 days before delivery. This ended up being an extra charge to transfer my items from an 18 wheeler to a smaller truck due to weight restrictions. Midland Van Lines uses extremely shady and deceptive practices and actively conceals the full scope of charges up front. Do not work with them. I would give zero stars if it was an option.
