Read More Talked to Steve about moving me from Andrew's SC to Rome, NY. I stated I have 2 storage units 1-10×5 and 1-10×10. He asked me what items we had and I told him what I could remember. He told me not to worry that because I know the size of my storage units he could price it with that. He quoted me $2604 and the movers would be there either 4/24 or 4/25 they will call the day before to notify me of time and day they would be coming. Since I no longer live in SC. On 4/24 at 830am we received a text stating they were 35 min away from storage. We arrived 4 hours later. They immediately told me they were not moving both my units for price agreed upon and raised it to $6204. I called the original guy I spoke with (Steve) and he immediately transferred me to someone else. They stated that Steve gave me price based on 300sqft and if I didn't pay the additional money I would not get items moved and I will not get a refund. I stated I told him the sizes of my storage units and she stated that's not what is documented and I will not be receiving refund. We are disabled and live on a fixed income and they scammed us out of $1420.

Read More With my move, everything initially seemed fine - I scheduled my move from Pennsylvania to New York and set up pick up window of three hours, in order to reserve my building's elevator. The day of, they initially said they will be able to make it but are running behind, but completely miss the window, so I need to reschedule. I think: fine, things happen. The next time - mind you, this is a week later, the earliest time they were willing to give me - the same thing happens. At this point, I need to move urgently because I'm starting a new job. So I ask for a refund of my deposit. They completely refuse to do this. I threaten doing a chargeback given that I (rightly) have no confidence in their ability to facilitate my move. They of course confidently assure me that I will lose the dispute. Well, I did initiate the chargeback, and it succeeded (my guess is because this is an awful business that is probably inundated with chargebacks - of course, I don't know that for a fact, but I wouldn't be surprised if that were that case). Please, dear god, do not patronize this business if you do not want to risk wasting your time. Go with a moving company that is NOT a broker - I'm guessing these brokers tend to operate on this kind of systematized incompetence. No need to deal with a middle man if you don't have to.
