Read More I am writing this review to warn others about my experience with Gary Thomas at Gulf Stream Van Lines. What happened to us felt deceptive from the very beginning, and it resulted in thousands of dollars lost, weeks of delays, and significant stress for our family. Our daughter was moving from Utah to Missouri, and after our truck was totaled, we needed help transporting her already packed belongings. On January 16, 2024, I received an unsolicited text from Gary Thomas, who said he could offer a low cost solution because he supposedly had a driver less than 50 miles away who was returning to Missouri empty. I told him we already had a moving container scheduled to arrive the next day, and the total cost with delivery was $3,500. He insisted he could save us money, and he also promised to provide movers who would load everything, unload it in Missouri, and even set up her home. Based on those assurances, we agreed to move forward. He provided a written estimate of $3,515, and we paid a $1,750 deposit. We were told the truck and movers would arrive on January 17th or 18th, and delivery would be on January 21st or 22nd. None of that happened. No one showed up on the promised dates. Instead, on January 21st, a completely different company — American Home Movers — arrived. We had never hired them, never spoken to them, and never agreed to work with them. This is when we learned that there was never a driver going back to Missouri empty, and that Gary Thomas had simply passed our job to another moving company like any other lead. The situation only got worse from there. American Home Movers required my husband to sign paperwork with the price left blank, then later claimed our daughter’s belongings took up far more space than they actually did. Her items were not stacked to the roof and were spread out, yet we were told they occupied excessive volume. The final price ballooned to $10,654.75, with immediate payment demands and cash requirements upon delivery. Her belongings were then taken to Las Vegas, where they sat for 21 days before being moved again. Items were mixed with other customers’ belongings, several things were missing, and some boxes had mice inside. The claim link we were given didn’t work, and no one attempted to recover the missing items. None of this matched what Gary Thomas promised. None of it matched the agreement we agreed on. And none of it resembled the “empty truck going to Missouri” story he used to secure our deposit. I am sharing this so others can avoid the same experience. What we were told and what actually happened were two completely different things, and it cost us greatly in time, money, and peace of mind.

During QA call, was told no one ever recorded an inventory - waste of 2 hours. Move DayMovers were 2+ hours late, Only Driver spoke VERY broken English, Driver had to ask 3rd guy's name (same guy jumped out of truck with shirt inside out & backward - not even wearing company shirts so why have it on wrong?) Driver looked at all stuff (arrived at house, drove to storage, back to house) then forcefully came at me saying it would be extra charges because "100% will not fit". I told him it would & he again yelled at me "It will 100% not fit". I said "Fine then do your best" Driver replied, "Now I can listen to you". Then Driver ARGUED with me about disassembling furniture, told me he WOULD NOT do it at all. Nor would he use moving blankets on my antiques (both against contract). Husband and SIL started disassembling furniture but stopped when I called Customer Service (CS). I called CS, they said they had no record of me making arrangements to pay by credit card. I also told CS driver was late, rude to me, and REFUSED to take furniture apart as in contract - CS told me "I am sure that is not happening". I sent Movers away. CS called back and asked why, I repeated, they were rude, refusing to wrap antiques, and disassemble furniture. And I had no other way to pay than CC. CS told me the movers said I refused to let them disassemble furniture. CS basically said I was lying, that I was breaking contract by sending Movers away. They broke contract first by not disassembling furniture wrapping furniture No Itemized Inventory Not professional Service Had wrong addresses on paperwork. I don't deserve to be treated the way I was. They made me feel that if they had our stuff, we would never see it again without paying more than we agreed to. Rented 26' Uhaul - had room to spare

They made my work easier and less stressful. I wholeheartedly recommend these boys.

My husband and I are moving to Arizona. Well we’re doing it now. Not only did they completely misconstrue their quote, but they left inventory out to make it seem like ... Read More My husband and I are moving to Arizona. Well we’re doing it now. Not only did they completely misconstrue their quote, but they left inventory out to make it seem like they beat their competitors and we put our down payment down. We just tried to do our inventory review and the man, Jordan who was on the phone with us intentionally spoke over us, then proceeded to try and gaslight us into thinking that we were wrong. My husband pulled up the receipts to try and verify and Jordan kept essentially calling him a liar. He then hung up the phone on my husband after not letting him explain anything. We called back and he started calling us names and when we asked to speak to customer service he continued to berate us. We call customer service same thing different person. We’re expecting a call in the morning from her supervisor to try and absolve some issues but we’re no longer going to be working with them. Sucks we left our deposit. It seems like all they’re trying to do is get more money from people then get them to cancel.

They were quick, polite, and on time every time

Read More I contacted this business at the last minute, hoping they could squeeze me in for a move. They were very responsive and accommodating, and they sent over Wayne and Robert to handle my stuff. They were very careful and respectful, making sure they didn’t damage any of our new crib’s walls or our furniture. They wrapped everything securely and moved it with ease.
