I Trusted Them Everything I Owned

**46 Days Without My Belongings. Thousands of Dollars Spent. Do Not Hire These Companies.** Imagine this: after 22 years in public safety, you accept a new job in a new city. You're excited, nervous, and ready for a fresh start. Like most people, you hire a moving company expecting professionalism, honesty, and reliability. That was not my experience. I hired Amerisafe Van Lines and paid them $3,440 as a booking fee. The day before my move, I was told I needed to pay an additional $900 because my belongings would supposedly take up more space on the truck. This was despite the fact that my original quote included several major items, including a washer and dryer, Peloton, twin bed, and kitchen table with chairs that were no longer being moved.  What I didn't realize at the time was that Amerisafe was not actually moving my belongings. They subcontracted the move to Cobra Van Lines. When I tried contacting my original salesperson for answers, my calls and messages went unanswered. Customer service eventually informed me that my belongings would not be delivered within a few days of the move and explained that multiple households are loaded onto the same truck. I was told to pack essentials and be prepared to "sleep like I was camping." I was also told, “Lots of people are moving to Texas, so this won’t take long.” On moving day, I paid Cobra Van Lines $1,779. Both Cobra and Amerisafe representatives told me my belongings would be delivered within 3–7 business days. That never happened. I placed an AirTag with my belongings. After pickup, my possessions were taken to a storage facility in the same city I was moving from and remained there for weeks. Meanwhile, I relocated to Texas with nothing but a suitcase, toiletries, and supplies for my cats. Days turned into weeks. I called repeatedly for over a month. The answer was always the same: "We don't have a driver." Because I had no household belongings, I was forced to purchase necessities just to function and start my new job. I bought an air mattress, then eventually a bed and mattress because sleeping on an air mattress for weeks became unbearable. I purchased clothes that met my workplace dress code, dishes, silverware, a vacuum cleaner, blankets, pillows, rugs, chairs, cookware, and countless other basic necessities. The expenses continued to pile up while my belongings sat in storage. After weeks of receiving no meaningful updates, I began sending formal complaints and stern emails. Only then did communication improve. Amerisafe assured me one week that Cobra would deliver my belongings. They didn't. Cobra then emailed saying delivery would occur the following Monday or Tuesday. It didn't. Then Friday or Saturday. Again, it didn't happen. Eventually, after 46 days, I finally received notice that my belongings would arrive. The driver called me at 8:15 p.m. the night before delivery. Having just started a new job, I had to request time off almost immediately after being hired. Then came another surprise. The company that arrived to deliver my belongings wasn't Cobra Van Lines. Cobra had subcontracted the delivery to yet another company. The delivery crew informed me they had only been contacted the day before. What's even more frustrating is that Cobra had previously emailed me claiming my belongings had already been loaded and were on the way. That statement was simply not true. The AirTag location and the delivery crew's comments confirmed otherwise. When my belongings finally arrived, I paid another $1,300. Then I was informed there would be additional charges for elevator access and walking distance from the truck to my apartment. Another $375. Amerisafe refused to waive the fee, stating I had already received compensation. Ironically, the amount they had previously refunded was almost identical to the new fee I was now being charged. By the end of this ordeal, I had paid **$6,913.45** to moving companies alone—including tips given to movers and not including the thousands of dollars I spent replacing basic household necessities while waiting 46 days for my belongings. I wasn't paying moving companies to store my possessions for a month and a half while I rebuilt my life from scratch. I feel taken advantage of. I feel misled. I feel exhausted. Most importantly, I don't want someone else to go through what I experienced. If you've taken the time to read this review, please learn from my mistake. **Do not hire Amerisafe Van Lines. Do not hire Cobra Van Lines.**

Do Not Use

Unfortunately, my story matches most of the people on here. I spoke with Brian Giefing, he was friendly ...told me stories about how they help people. I was doing a military move, told me that all his truck drivers are able to get on military post. This was a lie, they are a broker and have no idea who is transporting your stuff. We had a rude driver that could not get on post even though I asked several times. The dispatcher named Kimberly tried to blame me for not mentioning that I was on post the 5 times I had to call to find out where my stuff was located. They came almost 3 weeks after the drop off date. They also doubled my quote the day before pick up. We had to rent a uhaul truck to get our things from the driver and mover our own items into the house. No compensation for their mix up. I have moved several times in my life they are by far the worse company I have worked with.

Outstanding service

I had an excellent experience with AmeriSafe Moving Services from start to finish. The crew worked efficiently, handled my belongings with care, and ensured everything was properly protected during transport. They were punctual, respectful, and always willing to answer questions. The entire moving process was much easier than I expected. I would definitely hire them again.

Avoid Amerisafe Moving Services

No matter what they quote you expect to pay double. Quoted $8,300 originally and they show up and In my opinion extorted an additional $10,000. This is a round estimates and include a requested tip on top of the cost so they wouldnt charge extra for additional packing beyond what they as already charged. I feel they purposely under quote the job to get a signature and deposit. Then they show up and walk around the house and tell you this is going to cost more. What do you do when you have flights booked? Have to turn over the property after closing? They have you bent over. My mother is 80 years old and they took her for over $17,000. Took 22ft of a 26ft box truck and not even stacked to the ceiling. Make you pay cash on pickup and delivery. You don't actually get any of the packing you pay for. They charge you for certain amount of boxes, packing and blankets, but show up with nothing matching what they charged you for. They keep all the blankets you paid for after delivery. Whole thing was sketchy. Amerisafe also is just a broker. They have nothing to do with the actual pickup and delivery. Don't really have any complaints about the actual packing and delivery guys other than the guy that adds all the extra cost when he shows up. Just use a company that will come in person and give a binding quote. Don't get taken advantage of by these moving scammers out there. Do your research and read reviews everywhere. Don't let your elderly parent get taken advantage of. I failed, don't you.

Smooth and Reliable Interstate Moving Experience

We had an excellent experience with AmeriSafe Moving Services during our interstate move. The crew was punctual, professional, and careful with all our belongings. Communication was clear throughout the process, and everything was handled smoothly and efficiently. Their pricing was fair, and we were pleased with the overall service. I would gladly recommend them to anyone planning a long-distance move.

Horrible co

Unfortunately, our experience is like a reviewer recently posted. We talked with Brian and and yes, he was a super nice guy and friendly and made promises on the phone that were never delivered upon. We were removing less than 500 miles and he said it would just be a few days to have the goods delivered. We explained moving from a storage unit to an apartment explained the location flight of stairs /everything it took two weeks and lots of badgering to their customer service people to ever get any response as to when the move would occur. The night before the move was finally scheduled which by the way it was 17 days from pick up in two weeks from the first promised date they tried to charge an additional $500 for a shuttle fee because a semi truck could not park in Brooklyn. I pushed back and was able to have that charge removed because the moving company knew everything in the beginning. Like a previous reviewer said Kimberly the customer service agent tried to make it our fault is to wire a delivery wouldn’t occur as previously promised. At the very last minute they ask whether you need to see your eye or if there are any parking limitations. This was provided promptly but yet they still try to name that is the reason that that delivery would be even later than promised. By the way, they are purely a broker and are not the ones who pick up your goods and transport them and there’s no way to ever contact people who actually have your belongings. Would never ever recommend them.

Worst Experience

Nightmare from start to finish. Quoted price double once contract was signed (I was told square footage changed, but it did not). Storage charge tripled from price quoted. Associates assigned to us changed 2 time, just like the numbers quoted. Had to wait 3 extra weeks for delivery which meant more rental charges for us. 5 items missing at the time of delivery. Promised a claim form, 4 days ago, and still waiting. I would not recommend this company that uses a 3rd party for pick up & delivery. Left hand doesn't know what the right hand was doing.

DO NOT USE - Broken Contract & Major Upcharges

DO NOT USE. Amerisafe seemed helpful at first, but the experience ultimately felt deceptive and left us financially taken advantage of. During my initial phone call, Amerisafe explicitly confirmed that they would be using in-house movers and not outsourcing the move. This assurance turned out to be false. On both move-out and move-in days, Amerisafe used third-party movers instead. As a result, the movers who showed up introduced paperwork on the day of the move that altered key terms of the original contract we signed directly with Amerisafe. These changes led to a massive and unnecessary upcharge on move-in day. Because our belongings were already loaded and being held in their truck, we were put in an impossible position with no realistic ability to dispute the charges at that time. The move-in crew refused to assist in finding any alternative solutions to complete the job without the additional costs, leaving us with no choice but to pay. Amerisafe has since failed to rectify the upcharge, despite the fact that it stemmed directly from their decision to hire outside movers who modified a contract we never agreed to change. This situation could have been avoided entirely had Amerisafe been honest upfront and stood behind the contract we signed with them.
