I booked these guys for a move from one apartment to another, and I'm glad I did. The crew came in, got started, and kept things organized without making it complicated. I had a few small changes during the day, and they adjusted without any issue. The whole process was handled in a calm and professional way. I didn't have to keep checking on things or reminding anyone what to do. It was handled properly, and I would use them again without hesitation.
James and his three-person team noted each container's contents and labelled them accordingly. They also inquired about the specific rooms I wanted each box delivered to in the new location and dutifully followed my instructions. For my convenience, they stacked comparable boxes together to facilitate unpacking. Overall, they provided outstanding assistance.
After experiencing Swift Shift's services firsthand, I feel compelled to warn others about this company's problematic business practices. What started as an affordable moving solution quickly became a nightmare of hidden fees, poor communication, and accountability issues. Swift Shift initially provided an extremely competitive estimate that was significantly lower than other companies I contacted. This should have been my first red flag. After paying the required non-refundable deposit to "secure" my moving date, the real problems began. On moving day, the actual movers (who, I later learned, were from a completely different third-party company) arrived and immediately informed me that the price would be nearly double the original estimate. They cited additional charges for stairs, distance from the truck, packing materials, and various other fees that were never mentioned in the initial quote. With my belongings already loaded and limited options available, I felt forced to pay the inflated price -- how can you back out on moving day? Tenants were moving in two days after my moving day. Swift Shift knows this is typically the case and exploit. Once the move was underway, getting any information about my shipment became nearly impossible. Phone calls went unreturned and when I did get through, I was hung up on. Promised delivery dates came and went without explanation, and when I did manage to reach someone, they seemed to have no knowledge of my specific situation. The lack of tracking information and constant delays added tremendous stress to an already difficult process. What Swift Shift fails to make clear upfront is that they operate primarily as a broker, not an actual moving company. This means they're essentially a middleman who contracts your move out to other companies. When problems arise - and they will - Swift Shift points fingers at the third-party movers, while those movers claim they're just following Swift Shift's instructions. This creates a frustrating cycle where no one takes responsibility for the issues. Swift Shift was unresponsive to my calls and emails about insurance information. Getting documentation and information about where my items were and when they’d arrive was like pulling teeth. Moving is stressful enough without dealing with misleading, predatory business practices and poor customer service. While Swift Shift's initial estimates might seem attractive, the hidden costs, lack of communication, and accountability issues make them a company I cannot recommend. There are honest, reliable moving companies out there - Swift Shift is not one of them.
I was worried about a glass bookshelf and expensive mirrors. The corners were protected and well-padded. Packing my dishwasher, blender, and slow cooker together with labels made unpacking easier. There was no need to do anything.
There was a point during the move where I thought it might take much longer than planned, but they finished right on time. Swift Shift Van Lines handled everything very efficiently.
From the first query until the final item was unloaded, the transparency and communication were refreshing. The crew was punctual and skilled, and the price was clear. They used shrink wrap and foam to pack my modern gadgets, kitchen appliances, and even a fragile wall mirror faster than expected without sacrificing care.
Jack was a beacon of light in helping us out with the logistics of the move. He put in great efforts to make sure we had the best possible experience in an affordable price. And his hard work bore fruit when I received the final bill. I value all his assistance greatly!
I had to get in here in no time and it was supposed to be a lot of chaos. I had just packed and I was about to be out of my lease in 48 hours, but these guys packed my whole home in less than a day. This was also delivered the following day. I couldn't be more thankful to them!
DO NOT USE THEM!! they do not tell you the small details that one needs to know, e.g. you cannot update your invoice list once you give it to them, then when the movers show up, they want to charge you more for anything that's not on the list. i refused service because they wanted to charge me DOUBLE the price agreed. they also do not communicate box standards, and want to charge you more for anything that doesn't fit said standard. horrible communication and they will rip you off!!
