So, I knew that I had to make a hasty move, at the last moment. I did a whirl and called this moving company which managed to fit me in even though they were booked solid. They worked quickly but didn't rush or break anything. They carefully packed my delicate belongings. They got everything done ahead of schedule. I was really AMAZED by how they dealt with my move-in emergency.
Packing stresses me out more than anything, so that was my main concern. I explained that I wanted full packing and unpacking support along with a long-distance move. They took those details and searched for movers who could handle both. When my move date shifted slightly, they adjusted the arrangements without making it a problem.
I had a terrible experience with Menards Moving (the broker) and the movers they contracted. During the move, their truck leaked oil all over my concrete driveway. When I contacted the company to resolve the issue, I spoke with Phil, who was incredibly dismissive. His response was that "trucks leak oil" and essentially told me that because I "invited them to my home," the damage was my problem to deal with. He initially promised to take care of it and gave me a number for the movers, but they never answered or returned my calls. When I followed up with Menards again, Phil flat-out refused to help, stating there was "nothing he could do" and that I should just clean it myself. A professional company should take responsibility for damage caused by their equipment. Instead, I was met with excuses and a total lack of accountability. If you value your property and expect decent customer service, I highly recommend looking elsewhere. They are quick to take your money but will disappear the moment they cause damage to your home.
Contacted Menards 5 weeks before the move and a price was agreed upon. The salesman (Lenny) promised that the price would not go up and that delivery would be next day or latest 2 days. Menards acted as a broker and hired Handle With Care to do our move. When the HWC salesman(3 days before move) called he quadrupled the price!. We haggled the price down to double the initial price and then they charged more after everything was loaded on the truck. Supposed to be 3 movers to move our load and only 1 showed up. We contracted with Menard's for the load to be delivered by 3/10 or 3/11. Today is 3/16 and it still has not been delivered and they don't know when it will be delivered
I didn't need a large setup, just something that fit a smaller load. I shared that detail when I reached out. They searched with that in mind and didn't try to upgrade me to something bigger. I also had a gap between move-out and move-in dates, so storage had to be part of the plan. They worked it in smoothly. I liked not juggling different calls. They kept it simple and handled the coordination while I packed personal items myself.
Several of my boxes appeared to have been handled roughly during the move. I noticed some items needed extra attention when I unpacked them. I expected the movers to take more care with household belongings. Unfortunately, the experience did not meet my expectations.
I've transitioned through many places but this was by far the most incredible experience. The crew arrived early - a pleasant surprise. They got to work right away and impressed me with their speed and efficiency in packing all my belongings. One of the guys knew his way around to get things in the right place. The wrapping and packing of my electronics were so tight and nothing got damaged. They made it a very stressful day go off without a hitch.
This was an amazing moving experience, I just had to post! This team was early which was a good sign. They worked with a system that was very efficient. They covered my furniture with blankets and they even took apart some big furniture such as my dining table. They did the extra step to ensure my plants were placed in a secure location. Once they arrived at the new location, they put everything just where I wanted it.
