Review – A Warning to Future Customers
I waited until my move was complete to write this review. I don’t typically leave reviews, but my experience with Mayzlin Relocation was so disappointing and stressful, I feel obligated to warn others: please avoid this company. While my sales rep, Darren, was initially friendly, responsive and helpful during the quoting process, the finishing end move of delivery was unprofessional and deeply frustrating leaving me in tears and . While Mayzlin may be cost efficient the company will asses hidden fees to make up for their initial low estimates like long carry, stair and packing fees which they say are included in quotes.
My moving lead , Darren told me Mayzlin doesn’t outsource, my movers arrived in an unmarked truck, without uniforms—which questioned if third-party labor was actually used. However, Darren claimed they had simply rented a truck due to equipment shortages and didn’t know why his crew wasn’t in uniform ( the company does indeed outsource labor). But since the moving crew did such a great job and move-out day went relatively smoothly, I proceeded to recommend Mayzlin to a colleague, ( she would weeks later call me in tears after her own disastrous experience similar to mine below ).
My belongings went into their storage facilities temporarily after my move. When it was time for my out-of-state delivery, I pulled them from storage on March 28 to avoid April storage fees. I selected April 3 as my delivery date, per customer service’s instructions, and was told that the date wouldn’t affect pricing. Days later, I received a surprise invoice with April storage fees, box and packing charges (despite providing my own), and long carry fees—all of which had already been included in my original quote and signed invoice. On move-out day, the crew repacked my TV using their boxes saying they preferred using their own, despite me providing everything—and said there would be no extra charge, otherwise I would have packed it myself.I confirmed multiple times with follow up calls that no additional fees would be assessed after the move. That turned out to be false.
When it came time for delivery, I was told I had to sign an “updated”, inflated invoice despite Daren doing two invoices and instate and out of state invoice . But because I changed my move to an out of state move which the move was initially ( which I had a quote from Darren for and an instate ) I was essentially forced to pay hidden fees to receive my belongings. When I pushed back and submitted both the original quotes of the instate and out of state quotes and signed invoices including the fees they were forcing me to pay, a rude customer service rep, Nadine, responded, “Quotes don’t matter.” My items had already been loaded onto the truck without my approval, and I was told if I didn’t sign, they would offload them and charge even more. Furthermore I explained their rep told me that selecting the first available date would be affected storage fees and that I called March 28th to avoid April fees but if I was being made to pay them to hold the goods in storage but they good were loaded without my approval and route . After a week of going back and forth , I caved and signed just so I could get my good and avoid any further distress.
To make matters worse, the delivery timeline was vague and untrackable. Their so-called “live tracker” often went offline multiple times , and no one at customer service—including Darren—could provide accurate updates to a delivery date often times being unresponsive to emails & texts. I was left in limbo for nearly two weeks unable to plan anything with only 24 hours notice of when my goods would arrive and no specific time.
Mayzlin’s promises of transparency and professionalism are empty. Please save yourself the stress and hire a company that’s honest, communicative, and respects its customers- Mayzlin is not that comp
