This review is for a long-distance move made between McKinney Texas and Copley Ohio. The move was to relocate my 85 year-old mother from TX to OH. The process began with a call with Jack W., our move coordinator. Jack was helpful during our initial call with him and two more calls while we were communicating about the items that would be part of the move. We then spoke to our QA representative, David O’Green, to finalize the items that would be picked up in Texas. We set our ‘first available move-in date” as the 22nd of June. The crew that picked up our items in Texas arrived on June 16th to load up the truck. The crew had 3 men and did a good job.
Once the pick-up was completed in TX, myself, my wife, and my mother drove back to MD (where my wife and I live).
While reading through the move information again, we saw that the 3-14 day delivery window didn’t start on July 16th, but rather it started on our stated “first available move-in date”, the 22nd of June. I was curious how the 3-14 day window was counted as I wanted to know what the 14th day was to set my and my mother’s expectations. I called the customer service number. The representative was very short with me in the conversation, as if I was wasting his time. He gave me an incorrect date (he stated a date 14 days beyond the date I was talking to him on). Over the next days, I called our move coordinator, David, twice and left messages with the nature of my call – simply “what was the 14th day?” I also sent an email on 6/25 asking for a reply to my question. I also emailed customer service on 7/2. I received a reply that didn’t answer my question, so I sent another email on 7/3. No reply. I emailed again on 7/7. Never got a reply. I left at least 2 voice mails with customer service, with no return calls. I also tried to contact our move coordinator, Jack W. I emailed him on 7/3 with no reply. On 7/8 I called his telephone line and he answered. He was not in the office, as he was dealing with a family member in the hospital. We spoke briefly and he said he’d contact me the following day. I sent him an email after talking to him, with a gentle reminder to reach out to me the following day. I never heard back from him. I emailed [email protected] about my question. No reply.
I received an email from Customer Service on 7/9 with a copy of the invoice showing the remaining balance. The total was wrong. The payment I made when the crew picked up the load in McKinney on June 16th was not reflected. I replied to the email stating that the payment made at pickup was not reflected. Customer service replied that they would get with accounting and get back to me. They did, and the invoice was resent with a correct total due listed.
Saturday, July 12th, the crew came to deliver my mom’s belongings. 26 days after the initial pickup and 20 days after the ‘first available move-in date”. The lead presented me the total due invoice. It has the same wrong total as the invoice that customer service had sent to me on 7/9. I explained to the lead and he contacted Mayzlin. After 20 minutes, we were all on the same page. The Ohio team unloaded and did a good job.
In summary, Mayzlin employees, prior to my mom’s belongings being picked up in TX, were courteous, attentive, and seemed to care about our satisfaction. Once Mayzlin had all my mother’s possessions loaded into a truck, we were completely ignored. Since no one, and I mean no one, returned our calls or replied to emails (except for an automated reply from customer service), my wife and I were left in the dark with all my mother’s possessions in limbo. My 85 year-old mother was sickened with distraught that she’d never see her belongings again. Customer service at Mayzlin, as far as our move is concerned, did not exist once Mayzlin had our property. Moving across country is a stressful endeavor. Mayzlin, with their apparent disregard for any decent level of customer service, turned up the level of stress that we experienced.
