Read More I'm thrilled about my long-distance move. The staff carefully loaded my bedroom set, framed artwork, and kitchen appliances into sturdy boxes and foam-lined crates. Midway through, the movers called to check in, which calmed me. No risks or surprises—just a smooth ride.

They tell you it is their van line. The sales people are so nice. They take half your contract price. Once moving day comes, you are now dealing with a different company that is completely ruthless. The movers told us they are 1099 sub-contractors and American Van Lines is their least favorite company to drive for as there are always complaints. Once things are in the truck, you will be upcharged over and over and now they hold your items hostage while threatening you. Worst experience with any company ever.

During that time, I had no idea where my items were because customer service kept giving me vague answers. When my things finally arrived, several items were damaged, and one box was missing. Moving is stressful enough without this kind of hassle.

He hung up on me and consistently talked over me while we were trying to set up the time to get our stuff picked up. He also added an extra $500 on top of the price I had agreed to with another quality assurance agent. All of this happened 4 days before my moving date. I will never be using this service again and I suggest you don't either unless you want to be sassed or condescended to.
