As the two movers, charging by the hour, finally graced us with their presence, they seemed to believe they were on a paid vacation rather than a moving job. Breaks were their favorite pastime—chatting, sitting, and contemplating life. Newsflash: I'm not funding a moving crew's leisurely siesta on my dime.
I've hired STI moving & storage 3 times and they are the best. The handled my property with care and fast timing. I would highly recommend them.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I felt completely misled by the way they presented their pricing. The biggest issue was a roughly $500 one-time charge that appeared under “estimated travel time.” Based on the paperwork I received, I understood this to mean actual travel time—not a flat fee just for the movers to show up. Afterward, when I disputed the charge, I was told I should have known it was a one-time fee. I went back through my paperwork looking for where that was clearly disclosed and could not find it. It was listed as estimated travel time. Then there were the material charges. I had already purchased moving blankets, plastic wrap, and the other materials needed for my move. Everything was wrapped BEFORE the movers arrived. I even provided additional materials in case they needed anything. Despite this, my final bill included substantial material charges for materials that, to my knowledge, they did not use. The most upsetting part happened after I had to leave and could no longer supervise the move. I specifically asked them to CALL ME with the final total so I could pay over the phone. Instead, they approached my elderly mother and told her that I had approved the bill and requested that she provide a credit card. I had not approved that final bill. I later called my parents to check on the move because I knew the movers had been taking multiple breaks and things were taking longer than expected. That was when I learned they had already finished AND the bill had already been paid. My mother sent me the receipt, and that was when I discovered the additional charges. I contacted the company and disputed the charges, but they would not make an adjustment. To make matters worse, I had tipped approximately 20%, meaning I also tipped on roughly $900 in charges that I was disputing.
