Bait and switch!

Now that I have arrived in Santa Fe and gathered my thoughts, I can safely say that OM Van Lines is absolutely, 100%, a bait and switch operation. They outright lie as well as lie by omission. My original quote was $4,200 to move a small one bedroom apartment from Suffern, NY to Santa Fe, NM. My final bill was over $7,000. That's a 65% above the original quote. You may think I made a mistake or didn't understand how much stuff I was moving, but you would be wrong. I sent them photos and dimensions of everything I wanted moved. That's how they arrived at their original quote! The only mistake I made was signing a contract with these manipulative, deceitful scammers. Their business survives only because they count on clients apathy once their items have been delivered. NOT THIS TIME! I have no misapprehensions that I will ever see a dime from these shysters but I can certainly share my experience. This company doesn't have the integrity to address this. When I complained, they were rude, threatening, and disrespectful, and didn't want to hear it. They actually tried to explain how difficult it was operating a moving company, and Santa Fe was REALLY far away. Well, as far as I know, Santa Fe didn't get further away from NY after they gave me the original quote. When they come to your home to pick up your stuff, they know they have you between a rock and a hard place and have no problem taking advantage of you. William, Charlee, Lisa Marie, are not nice people and the owner of this company should be ashamed of themselves. If I guy named Igor comes to your door to pick up your stuff, shut it immediately. You're about to be screwed. I'm preparing letters and evidence for attorneys general in NJ and FL and transportation authorities, TO START. I have much more to share but I'll let the investigators handle that.

GREAT SERVICE & GREAT PRICE

Great service and great price! Moved from Syracuse to Miami and I'm glad to report it was a great experience! From the initial quote to my delivery I felt like they were just easy to get in contact with and answer my questions when I needed an update to change pick-up dates. I’ve moved quite a few times with several movers and this was by far the best experience. The team was professional, worked efficiently, and made sure everything was packed securely. Nothing was damaged, and they were super easy to communicate with. I’m so happy .

Awful

OM Van Lines I am going to start with the negatives and end with a few positives with this company. I had paid in full for this move ahead of time. I had a very simple move of moving from a small 5 x 10 storage unit with everything being wrapped up and boxed up inside the unit from previous movers to then going to stop at the house a few minutes away from the storage unit. On the day of pick up, I did not hear from anyone between the hours of 11 AM and 2 PM when I was told that would be my pick up window. Finally, someone contacted me to tell me that they had a big job before and are running late. They finally showed up to the storage unit at 4:30 PM. They go to the storage unit get everything out of it, and I am signing away my life with agreeing to all these impossibilities of extra charges an extra storage space and that sort of thing. so then we go to the house to switch out a mattress that was in storage with the mattress that is here at the house. The first problem was that they switched out the mattress and then we’re gonna leave the mattress, leaning up against the wall in my room wrapped up from storage. I had to ask the associate to unwrap the mattress and place it on my bed frame. I have moved twice before and I’ve never had to ask a mover such a simple task to do. so now they have packed up the truck and the lead associate comes in to go over pricing and of course I paid for this move ahead of time with Charlee and made sure that the inventory matched what they were gonna be charging me. They come back with needing an extra $1,000 on top of the $1620 that I have already paid in full. they said that the queen size mattress that was on the inventory was thicker and so that took up more space and so they were gonna charge me extra for that the best part is that even the lead foreman told Charlee that the only extra was the larger mattress and a few small boxes, but nothing major no packing services needed. luckily Charlee understood how upset I was and is working on looking at what was extra and what they can do on price when the movers left. I noticed an hour later that they took the shrink wrap from the mattress that I asked them to place on my bed and left it outside in the front yard. I went upstairs to see how my room was left and instead of leaving it, how exactly it looked when they walked into the room with the nightstand neatly next to the bed and the lamp on the nightstand. They pulled the nightstand aside put the lamp on the floor and just left it. I do not know any movers that would leave this kind of mess everywhere. these movers were clearly tired and annoyed with this simple job. The movers were getting very agitated that the lead foreman and I were trying to talk to the office about this extra thousand dollars they were trying to charge me as they all wanted to go home and this was only at 5:30 at night. I understand they had a long day, but these movers were very unprofessional and the small details and simple tasks that most if not all moving companies have a standard practice of these guys did not follow through on. now to some of the positives Charlee, who I’ve dealt with from the start of this move has been very good at communication between texting and emailing and phone calls. I will say once a question arises that’s urgent. She has gotten back to me within about 10 to 15 minutes of my asking so I will say she’s done a great job. I understand that Charlee honestly is working for a pretty bad company. I don’t know many companies that do this sort of bait and switch as I got my inventory right and they are trying to charge me an extra thousand dollars for a thicker queen size mattress which I’ve never heard of and a few extra boxes, maybe two or three, which were all packed by me. I understand if there was extra stuff to be moved if they actually had some work to do, but they did not even the lead. Foreman told Charlee himself that there was nothing extra with this job. I believe the computer system miscalculates the cubic square feet of the move to keep it cheaper so that you think you’re getting a good deal until they really show up and then they hit you with really what the cubic square feet is my cubic square feet was estimated around 200 and when the foreman were done with the job they estimated 325 so I’m not sure where 125 ft.³ is added when the inventory matched what I had it makes no sense. The only good thing out of this move was that Charlee was very receptive to helping me out and was there when I needed help but I will not be using the service again. The movers were awful. They just wanted to get in and get out, they do not care what they were doing and clearly they’re out just for the price not for anything else. Now the next day, I find out that Charlee is gone from the company so I am passed on to a woman named Michelle who is a jerk and only cares about the management profits and does not care about any customers any customer service or complaints. She explained to me attached below that the company is not responsible to remove trash from the property after a mattress is unwrapped.she explained to me that they do not take away the shrink wrap and only remove the moving blankets. They will not set up and furniture of my since it was in storage and not taken apart by them. What an awful company. I cannot believe how little effort everyone put in. I will know to ask about set up and all and never trust this moving company again. This has been a horrible experience. Charlee was clearly fired because she was helping process the move in full on my credit card when according to Michelle they were supposed to charge me a 5% processing fee. I am happy to know that I have costed them $81 in fees for using my card. Can’t believe these companies let people go because they are trying to help customers. My items were picked up on Monday April 14th in Massachusetts going to Nashville. I did not receive my items until Tuesday April 29th. I should have never had to wait that long! Any other moving company would have done it all within one week. I had to take off a day from work because this company was so bad at moving my items to Nashville. As it is said in the reviews. My desk came with a broken leg the movers tried to fix and my tv was broken when I turned it on. The moving company that delivered my items was a sub contracted company not related to OM can lines. They understood the job of placing my item’s where they needed to be and unwrapping all the plastic crap off my furniture and disposing of the trash. The foreman was even suprised when I said “ OM Van lines said u were not going to remove the plastic wrap. I am happy you have the standards of doing so” I would have hired this contracted moving company over OM Van lines any day. They were curious and professional unlike OM van lines in Massachusetts.

A positive experience

I had such a positive experience with this moving company. From the moment they arrived, the team worked efficiently and professionally. They were careful with my belongings and made sure everything was wrapped securely before loading it onto the truck. The movers were polite and friendly, which made the whole process so much less stressful. They finished the move ahead of schedule, and there was no damage to anything. The pricing was also transparent and fair. I highly recommend this company to anyone looking for reliable movers.

Bad company for long distance moving

Bad company, hidden costs. At the beginning they are respectful and willing to help. After signing the attention disappears, at the moment of the service they are rude and don't have respect for your furniture, don't forget one single box cause if they use only one box the cost is 150 dolls per material used. If there is a long distance even if they said that they are going to use a normal truck for your stuff, at the end they charge to you extra money for a shelter not communicated since the beginning. 1 dollar per cubic feet. And in that moment you have not more options that pay. The damaged my stuff and they don't care about it, the control that they have with your boxes is really poorly, I received boxes that were not mine and I had missing stuff. You can recover just 50 dlls per box if you decide fight for insurance. And a major insurance the deductible is really high. Not worth to hire it. Bad experience and bad company

This company does an outstanding job

This company does an outstanding job. Used OM Van Lines twice and can't say enough. Very easy to work with and extremely accommodating when we rescheduled several times. They guys sent were professional, friendly, and a pleasure to work with. Highly Recommend Them!

Team were Quick also friendly.

Literally just finished our move out of our flat to our first home. Team were very quick, safe and friendly movers. Would definitely recommend it. We were totally moved in under 5 hours! Very impressed. You guys should also try these movers if you want to be relaxed.
