Very pleased
This is the fourth move that I've done in my life, I've moved three times in the past and I've had a tough experience all three times. Chris and Danny we're incredibly patient with me, answered all my questions, and didn't pressure me to do anything I was uncomfortable with. I was nervous, and they put me at ease. The process was much more thorough than it had been in the past and they took the time to work with me and personalize my move. This was incredibly stressful to begin with and American way made it a smooth transition into a new life in California. My belongings arrived in just over 10 days and I was moving across the country. I hope I never have to move again but if I do I'd use call them every time.

They are Scammers!! Be Aware
If only i can give negative star i would. From the start, I had concerns about Christy White, the lady who quoted me. She was overly pushy, insisted on staying on the phone even when I said I'd call back, and gave me a low quote of $2924 to secure the job. After paying, she became unreachable. On pickup day, a different company showed up a United Speed Movers, claiming to be affiliates of American Movers, and demanded more money or they'd refuse my items a total of $5943. Despite Christy promising delivery within 2-4 days it become one week, the customer service representative I spoke to later seemed dismissive and unhelpful, citing human limitations and unforeseen circumstances like mudslides (which weren't an issue when they arrived). Things escalated when, a day before delivery, someone they demanded an additional $800 for shuttle services due to truck size issues. They should arrive Thursday of July 17 but they arrived Friday, and despite knowing my schedule that I'm leaving that day so my scheduled got delayed because of them, they sent a U-Haul with two workers who didn't seem professional - one couldn't speak English, and they lacked necessary tools, making me dig out my own to assemble furniture. To top it off, one of the workers took my water camera while handling my belongings and go through my stuff. I message them and no response from them. You cant reach any of them anymore. Even the email of the receipt you cant open it anymore. The lack of communication and care after payment has been shocking. This has been my worst experience with movers, and I'm still dealing with the aftermath. So please please please don't take this company they are scammers.

Worst customer service
This is the worst company ever! It was a nightmare. American Van Lines were impossible to get ahold of, didn’t answer the phone, didn’t return any calls. It was impossible to get an answer to “When is your driver coming?” At 6:30pm I was told NO they aren’t coming tomorrow- the designated date, but the day after that between 8am and 12 noon. OK, we were good with that. BUT The driver didn’t show up, or let us know, and he appeared at 6:30pm almost 7 hours late and they were loading the truck at our house until 2am. When I called on that day to see where they were (a Saturday) the phone was finally answered by the person on call…only she was at home but left the dispatcher’s phone number back at the office. The person who judged how much space we’d needed, vastly underestimated…all in all it was a horror show. ONE exception: the company who delivered our boxes (10 days later) was excellent. That was the only good thing that happened. I would NEVER recommend this company.

These people suck!!
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE service. No communication. Changed pickup time without notifying us. I had to call for All info. Person producing original inventory list with us on the phone didn't listen, couldn't find item on his list, then when the movers came inventory was way short of what we told him which then of course dramatically increase contract price. Movers couldn't start packing truck until new inventory was done and the company approved the move, that took 3 hours. Our employer was paying for the move and wasn't going to sign the price increase contract. Which I don't blame them. But they wouldn't load the truck until he signed it. We were under time constraints. House was sold. Needed to sign on new house next day out of state. The moving crew themselves were great once they were allowed to load the trucks. Took longer than usual. This was not our first move using moving companies this was DEFINITELY THE WORSE!!!!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
I scheduled a move in Dec 2024. They quoted me a price, I paid the deposit and signed all the documentation with no issues. The moving company arrives and states that the quote was inaccurate based on the amount of household goods I have. It would be close to $3k additional charge. NO THANK YOU. I called and cancelled the service and requested a refund. For several weeks, I didn't hear anything from the company. I began calling the 3rd week in Jan 2025. Every week, its some different excuse. "Their accounting department only works on Fridays", "We wont have a status until 12pm", "There is no updated status", etc etc. I am utterly sick of the excuses and think I've been pretty patient for over 7 weeks. If you DO NOT provide a service, you shouldn't be expected to receive payment. This is called SCAMMING PEOPLE. And this business according to the BBB complaints is doing this often! Its criminal and something needs to be done about this!

Misleading, Unresponsive, and Deceptive — Avoid at All Costs
I contracted American Way Movers for an interstate move from Pittsburgh to Nashville, and it was one of the worst consumer experiences I’ve ever had. Misrepresentation: They presented themselves as a moving company, but they are actually a broker. This was never made clear until the day of the move. False Promises: I was verbally assured multiple times — even days before the move — that my belongings would be delivered directly within 1–2 days. When the carrier arrived, they told me, “Oh, they lied to you,” and my delivery ended up taking five weeks. Bait-and-Switch Pricing: Despite reviewing my inventory multiple times and assuring me it would fit in the truck space I paid for, the carrier claimed I had 2–3x too much stuff and demanded hundreds more dollars to load it. No Accountability: Once my items were picked up, American Way Movers told me they had no obligation to me and that any issues with the carrier were not their responsibility — even though they hired the carrier. Customer Service Nightmare: There’s one phone number. You’ll wait on hold for 30+ minutes, only to be hung up on. No one returns calls. No one helps. No Claims Support: Now that I’m trying to file a claim, there is no contact info or support available. This company fits the profile of every moving scam listed on the FTC’s website. I strongly urge others to avoid this broker and seek out reputable, direct moving companies instead.

they were absolute pros, fantastic communication throughout the move, upbeat the whole time. American Way Moving has a knack for picking crew members who work hard but know how to have fun. They took great care with moving my furniture and worked efficiently. Could not ask for a smoother moving experience. Love this moving company.

AMAZING!! These guys crushed it. I had booked with a different company and they canceled on me last minute. With less than 24 hours notice, the best movers were able to support my move date and even the time slot of my desire! Was moving through a personally challenging experience which is what caused me to move and everyone at American Way Moving from the operations to the labor were phenomenal. They all had such positive vibrant energy, really up lifting my spirits and making the process quick and simple. I will only ever use them moving from now one while in Charlotte. 10/10 would recommend.
