America First Moving showed up prepared, patient, and respectful of our space. They handled furniture, kids’ items, and fragile pieces with equal care. After years in Chicago, Illinois, I decided to take a job in San Diego, California. The thought of moving that far made me nervous, but America First Moving made it painless. They were punctual, friendly, and went above and beyond to protect my electronics and kitchenware. My belongings arrived in perfect shape, and I was settled in within days. It’s rare to find a moving company that truly delivers what they promise.
America First is a moving broker. They contract with local moving companies to do the actual move. The initial phone quote was $8500 (paperwork sent confirming price). Since this was my fourth quote it lined up with the other three quotes I rec'd. But, when the inventory list was done, the price went to $13,000. They did lower it to $11,587 (which was still extremely high). I had no time to change my moving company. The main person I communicated with was the driver. His command of the English language was poor. The packers could not speak or understand English. The following items were damaged or destroyed: 1) Molding on the hutch was damaged, 2) broken pictures / glass frames, 3) clothes were not hung in wardrobes, they were folded and stacked until there was no more room. Could not reach the bottom of the box and the box was too heavy for me to tip over so I could empty it. 4) wrapped candles in two sets of sheets and the red dye permanently stained and ruined the sheets, 5) salad crisper destroyed, 6) broke glass globe stand, 6) broke standing light stand, 7) sleep # mattress was not wrapped correctly so it does not operate correctly. Will cost me $290 just to have a representative to evaluate the damage. Finally, when I sent my letter, with pictures of all the damaged/broken items, they said they could compensate me $100. At that point, I knew there was no need to speak to them any further. DO NOT USE THSE PEOPLE. They are scammers!
Only after money, will increase bid by more than $1,000.00. Shows up late by several hours or puts off till next day. Movers smelled like weed. Boxes crushed. Mentioned tip 9 times while unloading. Worst broker in business. They have snotty customer service, who doesn't care. I'm sure they get yelled at a lot, with the service they provide. Buyer be ware.
I had to relocate from Palm Bay to Memphis, TN for work and I’m glad I chose America First Moving. The crew showed up right on time, packed up my 3-bedroom house fast, and delivered ahead of schedule. Reliable, efficient, and no damage at all.
