We relocated from Tampa, FL to Phoenix, AZ for my wife’s job transfer. America First Moving packed up our 5-bedroom house with so much care. I was nervous about my workshop tools and her office equipment, but nothing was damaged. The crew kept in touch during the long trip, which gave us peace of mind.
This company sold us on a so-called “White Glove Service,” which is exactly why we agreed to pay their much higher price — over $3,600 more than the competition. The service was specifically described to us as including: “Packing, transportation, storage, delivery, UNPACKING, and putting all items where they belong, with the exception of kitchen boxes. You won’t have to do a thing — just sit back and watch.” Delivery day came, and not a single box was unpacked. The salesman promised one thing verbally, then changed the wording in the contract so the company could hide behind technical language and keep our money. First, they claimed unpacking “wasn’t in the contract.” When I asked them to review the recorded sales call, they changed their story again and said “White Glove Service” is just an expression — not an actual service they provide. That is plain and simple fraud. To make matters worse, they offered us a $200 “good faith gesture” only if we signed a document stating that: • We received all services promised verbally and in writing • We would not dispute the charges • We would not pursue any additional complaints It felt less like customer service and more like dealing with a moving mafia. If this review helps even one or two people avoid this company and their deceptive practices, then they can keep the $200.
After accepting a new position, I relocated from Santa Fe, New Mexico to Grand Rapids, Michigan. America First Moving handled the logistics professionally and kept me informed throughout the move. The packing team was efficient, and the delivery crew placed everything exactly where I needed it in the new apartment.
We sold our home in Reno, NV and moved to Spokane, WA for a quieter pace of life. America First Moving did all the packing, and their team worked like a well-oiled machine. They protected our hardwood furniture with multiple layers and kept us informed while on the road. Everything arrived safely, including our big sectional couch.
Complete scam. They sent a third party to move my stuff, who demanded an extra $2500 to do the job, which I had to pay. I felt like I was being blackmailed. I had to agree to the extra payment because I needed to move my stuff ASAP, and they took advantage of it. Never had such a bad experience with a mover.
They were very nice and responsive until they cheat you. The moving teams showed up 4 hours before scheduled I was unprepared because I had a lot to take care of before the move. They demanded a $220 tip for junking a bed frame right outside the apartment. They didn't give me a chance to do a walk through after the move because when they called me to say they already left while I was at the dog park. I had to end up paying a smaller moving company to get all the stuff they left behind in my apartment the next day. When you call the back to complain they ghost you. Don't trust them with all that 25 years in the business crap they will tell you.
After downsizing, I relocated from Rochester, New York to Hilton Head, South Carolina. America First Moving was respectful and careful with items that had sentimental value. Everything was packed securely and arrived in excellent condition. Their professionalism made a big life transition much easier.
