Our family needed to relocate from Tampa, Florida to Charlotte, North Carolina after accepting a new job opportunity. With three bedrooms and years of accumulated belongings, we were overwhelmed. America First Moving showed up prepared, patient, and respectful of our space. They handled furniture, kids’ items, and fragile pieces with equal care. It felt reassuring to work with a company that truly understood family moves.
My company transferred me from Redondo Beach, California to Lehi, Utah and the schedule was tight. America First Moving stayed on track and handled everything professionally. The packing crew was efficient and delivery happened right inside the window I was given.
America First is a moving broker. They contract with local moving companies to do the actual move. The initial phone quote was $8500 (paperwork sent confirming price). Since this was my fourth quote it lined up with the other three quotes I rec'd. But, when the inventory list was done, the price went to $13,000. They did lower it to $11,587 (which was still extremely high). I had no time to change my moving company. The main person I communicated with was the driver. His command of the English language was poor. The packers could not speak or understand English. The following items were damaged or destroyed: 1) Molding on the hutch was damaged, 2) broken pictures / glass frames, 3) clothes were not hung in wardrobes, they were folded and stacked until there was no more room. Could not reach the bottom of the box and the box was too heavy for me to tip over so I could empty it. 4) wrapped candles in two sets of sheets and the red dye permanently stained and ruined the sheets, 5) salad crisper destroyed, 6) broke glass globe stand, 6) broke standing light stand, 7) sleep # mattress was not wrapped correctly so it does not operate correctly. Will cost me $290 just to have a representative to evaluate the damage. Finally, when I sent my letter, with pictures of all the damaged/broken items, they said they could compensate me $100. At that point, I knew there was no need to speak to them any further. DO NOT USE THSE PEOPLE. They are scammers!
My wife and I moved from Detroit, Michigan to San Antonio, Texas, and the experience with America First Moving was fantastic. The movers were professional and respectful, taking the time to protect our furniture properly. The delivery was on schedule, and they made sure we were settled before leaving.
This company sold us on a so-called “White Glove Service,” which is exactly why we agreed to pay their much higher price — over $3,600 more than the competition. The service was specifically described to us as including: “Packing, transportation, storage, delivery, UNPACKING, and putting all items where they belong, with the exception of kitchen boxes. You won’t have to do a thing — just sit back and watch.” Delivery day came, and not a single box was unpacked. The salesman promised one thing verbally, then changed the wording in the contract so the company could hide behind technical language and keep our money. First, they claimed unpacking “wasn’t in the contract.” When I asked them to review the recorded sales call, they changed their story again and said “White Glove Service” is just an expression — not an actual service they provide. That is plain and simple fraud. To make matters worse, they offered us a $200 “good faith gesture” only if we signed a document stating that: • We received all services promised verbally and in writing • We would not dispute the charges • We would not pursue any additional complaints It felt less like customer service and more like dealing with a moving mafia. If this review helps even one or two people avoid this company and their deceptive practices, then they can keep the $200.
After retiring, my husband and I decided to leave Atlanta, GA for Daytona Beach, FL. America First Moving took great care of our furniture and keepsakes. They even reassembled our bed frames for us upon arrival. Outstanding service and fair pricing.
