We relocated from Plano, Texas to Asheville, North Carolina after a sudden job transfer and the birth of our second child. America First Moving handled our four bedroom home with care, making sure fragile items like baby furniture and electronics were secured. They communicated constantly and everything arrived on time, allowing us to settle into our new home without added stress.
This company sold us on a so-called “White Glove Service,” which is exactly why we agreed to pay their much higher price — over $3,600 more than the competition. The service was specifically described to us as including: “Packing, transportation, storage, delivery, UNPACKING, and putting all items where they belong, with the exception of kitchen boxes. You won’t have to do a thing — just sit back and watch.” Delivery day came, and not a single box was unpacked. The salesman promised one thing verbally, then changed the wording in the contract so the company could hide behind technical language and keep our money. First, they claimed unpacking “wasn’t in the contract.” When I asked them to review the recorded sales call, they changed their story again and said “White Glove Service” is just an expression — not an actual service they provide. That is plain and simple fraud. To make matters worse, they offered us a $200 “good faith gesture” only if we signed a document stating that: • We received all services promised verbally and in writing • We would not dispute the charges • We would not pursue any additional complaints It felt less like customer service and more like dealing with a moving mafia. If this review helps even one or two people avoid this company and their deceptive practices, then they can keep the $200.
America First Moving helped me move my 3-bedroom house from West Palm Beach to Montgomery, AL. They wrapped all the furniture with care, disassembled and reassembled everything, and were extremely professional. The whole job went off without a hitch.
My company transferred me from Cleveland, OH to Dallas, TX, and I didn’t have much time to coordinate a move. America First Moving stepped in and took ownership right away—packing, labeling, and building a schedule that matched my start date. Their crew was friendly, efficient, and thoughtful about my work equipment. It made a stressful transition so much easier.
I moved from St. Petersburg to Sarasota, FL for a fresh start. Even though it was a smaller 1 bedroom move, America First Moving treated it with the same care as a long distance relocation. The crew was efficient and very respectful.
America First is a moving broker. They contract with local moving companies to do the actual move. The initial phone quote was $8500 (paperwork sent confirming price). Since this was my fourth quote it lined up with the other three quotes I rec'd. But, when the inventory list was done, the price went to $13,000. They did lower it to $11,587 (which was still extremely high). I had no time to change my moving company. The main person I communicated with was the driver. His command of the English language was poor. The packers could not speak or understand English. The following items were damaged or destroyed: 1) Molding on the hutch was damaged, 2) broken pictures / glass frames, 3) clothes were not hung in wardrobes, they were folded and stacked until there was no more room. Could not reach the bottom of the box and the box was too heavy for me to tip over so I could empty it. 4) wrapped candles in two sets of sheets and the red dye permanently stained and ruined the sheets, 5) salad crisper destroyed, 6) broke glass globe stand, 6) broke standing light stand, 7) sleep # mattress was not wrapped correctly so it does not operate correctly. Will cost me $290 just to have a representative to evaluate the damage. Finally, when I sent my letter, with pictures of all the damaged/broken items, they said they could compensate me $100. At that point, I knew there was no need to speak to them any further. DO NOT USE THSE PEOPLE. They are scammers!
