The final amount increased a little because I had more items than the original inventory, which was fair. The important thing was that I got out of the apartment on time.
The packing crew handled books, kitchen items, closets, artwork, electronics, and a ridiculous amount of miscellaneous household stuff. They used wardrobe boxes for hanging clothes and clearly marked the boxes by room. The next day, the moving crew wrapped the furniture and loaded everything. We had a three-bedroom home plus a small home office, so there was plenty to move.
Our previous move was done with friends and family, and it took almost two days. This time we decided to hire people who actually knew what they were doing. The difference was obvious right away. Furniture was wrapped instead of just carried out, boxes were loaded in an organized way, and nobody was standing around trying to figure out how to move the sectional. We had three bedrooms, kids' furniture, bikes, toys, garage boxes, a dining set, and way too many kitchen boxes. The movers kept things moving without making us feel rushed
Anyone who has moved in New York knows the distance can be short and the move can still be complicated. Our old building had tight stairs, a narrow hallway, and basically no convenient parking. What I liked most was that they didn't slam things into walls just because space was tight. Both apartments came through without noticeable damage to the door frames, and our furniture arrived safely
Our three-bedroom house was completely full, and the garage probably added another room's worth of things. I was worried that I had underestimated how much we owned. The movers checked the inventory with us and pointed out the extra items before loading. I appreciated knowing about it rather than being surprised later. They wrapped all the major furniture, including our bedroom sets, dining table, sectional, and two TVs. The garage items were awkward because we had tools, shelving, bikes, and outdoor equipment, but they organized everything pretty well.
The packing team brought boxes, packing paper, and bubble wrap and got through it surprisingly quickly. Glasses were individually wrapped and the heavier dishes were packed in smaller boxes rather than overloaded ones.
The movers handled it much better than I expected. They used dollies where they could and carried the larger pieces carefully when the hallway got too narrow. My couch had to be angled almost vertically to get it downstairs, and they took their time instead of forcing it against the walls.
The estimate we received was reasonably close to the final cost. We did pay a little more because we added a bookcase, extra boxes, and packing for two large mirrors that weren't included in the original inventory

Standard one-bedroom, moved to another state. Nothing complicated, and they kept it that way. Wrapped the couch and mattress, padded the TV, loaded in a couple hours, delivered next day on time. Fair price, no surprises. Clean, quick apartment move.
