Read More I'm not one to leave reviews. However, I was extremely happy with the service IVL provided for my family. I had a last-minute urgent move and IVL came through last minute and had my stuff picked up. The move itself went well. They packed all of our stuff and got everything loaded in a short period of time. The delivery took a few days. I had no missing items or damage. I would highly recommend International Van Lines to anyone who's making and out of state move. Oh, and I would like to thank Justin who did a great job dealing with our stressful situation.

Read More I recently moved to Florida from New York, using International Van Lines. They offered me a reasonable quote, had good communication, and had excellent online reviews. I have used movers in the past and had a couple of bad experiences, so I wanted to make sure I went with a reputable company that owns and operates its own trucks and crews. All in all everything went well. They were on time, and I had no damage or problems along the way. I'm not one to leave a review, but in this case, they did a good job, so why not.

Read More I hired International Van Lines for a move from IL to TX. Once they get your deposit, forget any reasonable customer service. Many calls, voicemails, and emails went unanswered. Getting information is like pulling teeth. On the front-end, they didn’t do a physical or video inspection for inventory when building the quote. I estimated my items the best I could, but there was significant variability given that IVL was doing the packing for me. That led to a big surprise on pick-up day with volume and cost. The team had to return a second day with another truck to complete the pick-up. Had we known the estimate would change so much (+$1430), we would have planned our move very differently, or perhaps not used IVL at all. For some reason they also couldn’t confirm the pickup window until the afternoon before (this is near impossible to navigate when living in a high-rise that requires loading dock/freight elevator reservations). On being in transit, I appreciate that there’s significant ambiguity in travel times for delivery (weather, driving hour limitations, etc). However, dispatch was unable to provide any information beyond the day the truck left the warehouse. The *only* expected follow-up correspondence is supposed to be the driver calling you the day before delivery. I find it shocking that in 2023 the company cannot provide even semi-regular progress updates. Even an estimate on the week of delivery or the number of stops along the way would have been useful, but corporate either 1) does not have that information, or 2) is unwilling to provide it. On delivery, IVL obviously knew the drop-off address before we even booked the move. The day before delivery, they say the 53’ truck won’t fit in my neighborhood so they need transfer everything to a smaller vehicle, which incurred another $900 fee. My landlord said the neighborhood would fit the truck. IVL never tested or physically inspected for themselves, and presumably just inferred it from satellite imagery. There’s NO reason this information could not have been factored into the quote at booking time. Payment was split into 3 parts. I was able to use a credit card for the deposit. For the second payment, credit card was not an option at pick-up, but I could use Zelle. And on delivery, the final payment was cash or money order only. So I ended up needing to pay for this move with three different forms of payment, which seems excessive. The local pick-up and drop-off teams were thorough and careful. They did their job well and I appreciate them for it. However this does not make up for all the issues with the corporate/dispatch team. I am profoundly disappointed and frustrated with the lack of communication and the many contingencies that continually drove the price up at each stage, most of which could have been completely avoided by better planning even before my items were picked up. I will not use this company again and would strongly dissuade others from doing so.
