Terms for Moving Companies

By MGM Editorial Team Last updated

These Terms for Moving Companies explain how our paid programs for moving companies work: what you get, how you pay, how to cancel, and what paying can and can’t change. We have written them in plain language and added examples, so you know exactly what to expect before you buy.

We don’t list prices in these terms. The current price of every program is shown in your account dashboard and on the checkout page before you buy, and we tell you at least fourteen (14) days before any price change (see Section 13).

1. Who These Terms Apply To

These Terms for Moving Companies apply to every moving company and broker (“you”) that lists on My Good Movers (“we”, “us”), mygoodmovers.com, which is operated by Marketing Monkeys Ltd. They apply to free Basic listings and to every paid program described below.

2. How These Terms Fit With Our Other Policies

These Terms for Moving Companies are part of our Terms and Conditions. Together with the documents below, they form your agreement with us:

If these Terms for Moving Companies and the Terms and Conditions say different things about a paid program, these Terms for Moving Companies apply. On everything else, the Terms and Conditions apply.

3. Key Words

  • Dashboard: your account dashboard on My Good Movers.
  • Billing period: one calendar month, starting on the day your paid program starts. If you choose to pay in advance for a longer term (yearly Premium, or Featured Partner for 3, 6 or 12 months), your billing period is that whole term.
  • Lead: a consumer’s request sent to you through My Good Movers: a quote request our automatic system delivers to you, or a consumer who contacts you from your profile or any other page of My Good Movers. It includes only the contact methods the consumer agreed to on our form.
  • Per-lead fee (CPL): a fee you pay for each lead sent to you through My Good Movers.
  • Paid placement: a spot on our pages that you pay for. Every paid placement is labeled “Ad.”
  • Organic Rank: the order of our unpaid results, worked out as described in How We Rank and Sort Movers.
  • Placement pages: our resource pages, state pages, city pages and route pages (state-to-state routes and all connected routes).
  • Locked lead: a lead whose customer name, phone number and email are hidden from you because you are not on a paid lead plan (see Section 9).
  • Package: a set of placement pages offered together for Featured Partner, with one fixed fee.

4. Your Free Basic Listing

Every moving company that completes our verification steps gets a free Basic listing. It shows your company profile and your reviews, and it appears on the state page of your Primary Address.

Your listing stays on My Good Movers. You can’t cancel or delete your listing yourself. Consumers rely on the reviews it shows, so we keep a listing live even if you stop using paid programs. You can always:

  • update your profile details in your dashboard;
  • ask us to correct anything that is wrong;
  • ask us to remove personal information about you or your staff, as described in our Privacy Policy.

If your company has closed, been sold or stopped moving people, contact us at [email protected] and we will update the listing to show it.

Want more? On top of your free listing, you can choose any of these paid programs. Each is explained below:

  • Premium: a subscription with more profile tools, billed monthly or yearly (Section 5).
  • State add-ons: appear in more states (Section 6).
  • Featured Partner: a featured ad spot on the pages you choose, with a fixed fee and a fee per lead (Section 7).
  • Sponsored Ads: an ad spot where you pay only per lead (Section 8).
  • Lead Program: quote requests sent to you, paid per lead, with a monthly limit you set (Section 9).
  • Profile articles: articles in their own section on your profile, paid per article (Section 10).

Featured Partner, Sponsored Ads, the Lead Program, state add-ons and profile articles all need an active Premium subscription. We never charge for impressions (how often your ad is shown) or for clicks.

5. Premium Profile Subscription

What it is. Premium is a paid subscription that upgrades your company profile with extra tools. Your reviews and rating stay exactly as they are. What Premium includes is listed on our Basic vs Premium Subscription page.

How you pay. Premium has a fixed fee. You choose at checkout to pay monthly, at the start of each month, or yearly, once in advance for the whole year. We show the price of each option before you buy.

Payment method first. You must add a payment card before you start a free trial or buy Premium.

Free trial. If you have a Basic listing, you can try Premium free.

  • The trial lasts between 7 and 15 days. The exact length is shown before you start.
  • Before you start, we show you the Premium price, how often you will be billed, and the date your first charge will happen.
  • During the trial, usage limits are lower than on a paid Premium subscription, and you can’t buy state add-ons.
  • We email you a reminder before your trial ends.
  • You can cancel at any time during the trial in your dashboard, without contacting support, and you won’t be charged.
  • If you don’t cancel, your card is charged automatically when the trial ends, for the option you chose (monthly or yearly), and Premium renews until you cancel.

Example. Ali’s Moving starts a 10-day trial on 1 March and adds a card. On 8 March we email a reminder. If Ali cancels in the dashboard on 9 March, nothing is charged and the profile goes back to Basic when the trial ends. If Ali does nothing, the card is charged the Premium monthly fee on 11 March, and the next charge is on 11 April.

Yearly plans. If you pay yearly, we email you at least 30 days before your plan renews, with the renewal date and price. You can cancel before then, and Premium stays active until the end of the year you paid for.

6. State Add-ons

What it is. Your Basic listing appears on the state page of your Primary Address. With Premium, you can pay to appear on the directory pages of other states.

  • You can choose state add-ons only when you buy Premium or while you have it, not during a free trial.
  • Each extra state has its own fee, shown before you buy. It is charged with your Premium subscription each billing period.
  • Listings that appear on a state page because you paid for that state are labeled “Ad.” They don’t change your Organic Rank.
  • If Premium ends, your state add-ons end at the same time.

Example. A Texas moving company with Premium adds Oklahoma and Louisiana. From the next charge, it pays the Premium fee plus the fee for each of the two states. On the Oklahoma and Louisiana pages, its listing shows an “Ad” label.

8. Sponsored Ads

What it is. A Sponsored Ad is a paid spot on the same placement pages: resource, state, city and route pages.

Pages. You choose the pages where your ad appears: one page or as many as you like. There is no minimum number of pages.

Who can buy it. Sponsored Ads need an active Premium subscription. They are available to moving companies (carriers) only; brokers can’t buy them.

How you pay.

  • No monthly fee.
  • A per-lead fee for each lead that comes to you through your Sponsored Ad.
  • No impression fee and no click fee.

Who receives the lead. A lead from your Sponsored Ad goes only to you. It isn’t shared with other moving companies.

No spending cap. Sponsored Ads have no spending cap: you pay for every lead your ad brings. Your dashboard shows each lead and its fee as it arrives.

How it is shown. Every Sponsored Ad is labeled “Ad” and shown separately from our organic results.

Example. A moving company turns on a Sponsored Ad for California city pages. In one month the ad is shown many times and brings 3 leads. The moving company pays 3 per-lead fees and nothing else for that month.

9. Lead Program (Per Lead)

What it is. In the Lead Program, you receive leads sent to you through My Good Movers: quote requests that the My Good Movers automatic system matches to your location and service area, and consumers who contact you from your profile or any other page of My Good Movers.

Who can join. The Lead Program needs an active Premium subscription. Moving companies (carriers) and brokers can join.

How leads are sent.

  • Each quote-form lead may go to up to three moving companies, so you may be competing for the same move. A consumer who contacts you from your profile goes only to you. (Leads from Featured Partner spots and Sponsored Ads are different: they go only to the moving company in the ad.)
  • The automatic system matches each lead using your location and service area, the move’s route, size and date, your availability, and your monthly spending cap.
  • A lead includes only the contact methods the consumer agreed to. If the consumer did not tick the consent box for calls and texts, you receive their email only, and you must not call or text them.
  • You may use a lead, including the consumer’s phone number, only to respond to that consumer’s specific moving request. You must not use it for unrelated marketing, market other products or services to the consumer, add them to a marketing list, or pass the details on.

How you pay. You pay a per-lead fee for each lead. It is charged to your saved card when the lead arrives, after our system has checked that the lead is valid. The rules in Section 11 apply.

Locked leads. A lead’s customer name, phone number and email are shown only to moving companies on a paid lead plan: Featured Partner, Sponsored Ads or the Lead Program. If you aren’t on one of these plans, you may see a lead’s route, move size and date, but its contact details stay locked. A lead whose move date has passed stays locked and is never charged.

Leads from your ads. A lead from your Featured Partner spot or Sponsored Ad is charged at that plan’s per-lead fee, not the Lead Program fee. While you have Featured Partner or Sponsored Ads, other leads sent to you through My Good Movers are unlocked too and are included in your plan at no extra per-lead fee.

Your monthly spending cap. You set a monthly spending cap in your dashboard.

  • We never charge you more than your cap in a billing period.
  • When your per-lead fees for the billing period reach your cap, we stop sending you leads until the next billing period starts.
  • You can change your cap at any time. A new cap applies to leads sent after you change it.

Lead credits and billing corrections. We don’t charge for invalid leads. If a lead turns out to be invalid after you were charged, for example it is fake or has no working contact details, you can ask for a lead-quality credit within 7 days under our Refund & Credit Policy for Moving Companies. Confirmed duplicate, erroneous or unauthorised charges are always corrected in full, and the 7-day limit doesn’t apply to them.

Example. A moving company whose billing period starts on the 1st of each month sets a cap equal to the cost of 10 leads. By 20 June it has received 10 leads, so the cap is reached. We stop sending it leads, and it is not charged for anything more in June. On 1 July, its new billing period starts and leads begin again. If it raises its cap on 21 June, leads restart straight away, up to the new cap.

10. Profile Articles

What it is. With Premium, you can publish articles in their own section on your company profile: moving tips, your team, a job you are proud of, or company news.

How you pay.

  • Each article has a fee that depends on your article plan (Starter, Growth or Authority). Your plan also sets how many new articles you can publish each month. The fee is shown before you submit.
  • When you submit an article, we place a hold for the fee on your card. We take the payment after our review.
  • If you cancel before our review starts, the hold is released and you pay nothing.
  • If your article needs changes, you can fix it and submit it again at no extra cost. If we can’t approve it, the hold is released and you pay nothing.
  • Your first text edit within 30 days of publishing is free. Later edits have a fee, shown before you submit.

Our review. We check every article against our content rules before it goes live, usually within 24 to 48 hours. Approved articles are published automatically.

Content rules. Your article must:

  • be about moving, your team, your work or your company news;
  • make no price guarantees or claims such as “lowest price” or “cheapest in town”;
  • use your own photos, or images you have the rights to;
  • link only to useful, relevant pages, with no link shorteners and no competitor pages;
  • not include contact details in the text (customers reach you from your profile); and
  • not be offensive, misleading or copied.

How articles are shown. Articles appear on your profile with your company named as the author. They are your content, not ours: we check them against our rules, but we don’t confirm every claim, and you are responsible for what they say. Articles never change your Organic Rank, star rating or reviews.

How long an article stays. A published article stays on your profile while your profile is live, unless it breaks our rules or the law, or you ask us to remove it. Removing an article doesn’t give you a refund.

Example. A moving company on the Starter plan writes an article with packing tips and submits it. We place a hold for the article fee on its card. The next day we approve the article, it goes live, and the fee is taken. A week later it fixes a typo; this first edit within 30 days is free.

11. Billing and Payments

  • Payment processor. We take payments through a third-party payment provider (currently Stripe). We don’t store your full card details.
  • Fixed fees (Premium, state add-ons, Featured Partner) are charged at the start of each billing period. If you pay in advance for a longer term (yearly Premium, or Featured Partner for 3, 6 or 12 months), we charge the whole term at the start, and the plan renews for the same term unless you cancel.
  • Per-lead fees (Featured Partner, Sponsored Ads, Lead Program) are charged to your saved payment method. Your dashboard shows every lead, its fee and when it is charged.
  • One charge per customer. If the same consumer (the same name, email or phone number) reaches you again, we don’t charge you again.
  • Past move dates are free. We never charge for a lead whose move date has already passed. These leads stay locked.
  • Checked first. Our system checks that each lead is valid before we charge for it. We don’t charge for invalid leads.
  • Billing errors. If we charge you twice for the same consumer, for a lead whose move date has passed, or by mistake, we correct the charge in full once it is confirmed, as set out in our Refund & Credit Policy for Moving Companies.
  • Article fees are held when you submit an article and taken after our review (Section 10).
  • Receipts. You can see and download your invoices in your dashboard.
  • Taxes. Prices don’t include any sales or other taxes that apply. Where tax applies, we show it before you pay.
  • Failed payments. If a payment fails, we tell you by email and you can update your card in your dashboard. Until the payment goes through, we may pause your paid programs. Your Basic listing and your reviews are not affected.

12. Canceling and Ending a Program

When you cancel. You can cancel any paid program at any time in your dashboard or by emailing [email protected].

  • The program stays active until the end of the current billing period, and then it stops. If you paid in advance for a longer term, this is the end of that term. You are not charged any fixed fee after that.
  • Stopping new paid leads. You can stop new paid leads straight away, at any time, in your dashboard or by emailing [email protected]. This applies to the Lead Program, Featured Partner and Sponsored Ads. From that moment we send you no new paid leads, and you are not charged for leads delivered after we receive your request. For Featured Partner and Sponsored Ads, your ad stops taking quote requests. Leads delivered before then remain payable.
  • Minimum commitments. If a program or package has a minimum term or commitment, we show it to you before you buy.
  • Featured Partner, Sponsored Ads, the Lead Program, state add-ons and profile articles need Premium. If Premium ends, the paid programs end at the same time. Articles already published stay on your profile.
  • We don’t give part refunds for the rest of a billing period, including unused months of a term you paid in advance, except where the law requires it or our Refund & Credit Policy for Moving Companies says so.
  • When a paid program ends, your Basic listing and your reviews stay as they are.

When we end a program immediately. Apart from your right to stop new paid leads, only My Good Movers can end a paid program before the end of the billing period. We may do this, for example, if:

  • your federal registration, license or insurance is inactive or can’t be confirmed;
  • you break our Terms and Conditions, these Terms for Moving Companies or our Guidelines for Moving Companies; or
  • you misuse leads or consumer data.

We will usually tell you why, as described on our Action We Take page, and you can appeal.

Example. A Featured Partner whose billing period runs from 5 May to 4 June cancels on 20 May. Its spot stays live until 4 June, and it pays per-lead fees for leads received until then. It is not charged on 5 June. If it also stops new paid leads on 20 May, its spot stops taking quote requests that day and it pays no per-lead fees after that. If instead we end the program on 20 May because its federal registration became inactive, the spot is removed that day.

13. Price and Program Changes

  • We may change our programs and prices. We email you at least fourteen (14) days before any change to what you pay.
  • A new price applies from your next billing period after the notice period.
  • If you don’t agree with a change, you can cancel before it takes effect, and you won’t pay the new price.

14. What Paying Can and Can’t Change

Payment of any kind never changes your Organic Rank, your star rating, your reviews, or whether a review shows a “Verified” label. It never buys the removal of a review or a warning on your profile.

Payment changes only three things, and each one is disclosed to consumers:

  1. Paid placements (Featured Partner and Sponsored Ads), which are labeled “Ad”;
  2. the extra state pages you appear on, which are also labeled “Ad”; and
  3. whether you receive leads from us.

You must not tell consumers that My Good Movers recommends, ranks, certifies or endorses you because you pay for a program. You can read more in How My Good Movers Makes Money.

15. Your Responsibilities

When you take part in any program, you must:

  • keep your federal registration, licenses and insurance active, and your profile accurate;
  • contact consumers only by the methods they agreed to, follow their requests to stop contact, and follow the U.S. Telephone Consumer Protection Act and state laws, as set out in Clause 4 of our Terms and Conditions;
  • use each lead only to respond to that consumer’s specific moving request, never use it for unrelated marketing, and never sell or share it;
  • follow our Guidelines for Moving Companies, including the rules on inviting reviews.

16. Paying Doesn’t Stop Us From Acting

Paying for a program never stops us from checking your listing, showing a warning on your profile, or taking other action under our Action We Take page. The same rules apply to every moving company, whether or not it pays us.
