Editorial Policy

By MGM Editorial Team Last updated

My Good Movers publishes moving guides, checklists, cost pages, city and state guides, and “best movers” lists. This page explains who writes them, how we check them, and how we keep money out of what we write.

Who Writes Our Content

Our content is written and edited by the MGM Editorial Team. Each guide shows the name of the team or person responsible and the date it was last updated.

How We Research and Check Facts

  • We use primary sources first. For rules about interstate moves, we use the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and federal law. For state rules, we use the state agency that licenses movers.
  • We link to our sources so you can check them yourself.
  • We check numbers before we publish them. Moving costs on our site come from the data described in our Moving Pricing Methodology. If we can’t back a number with data, we don’t publish it.
  • A second person reviews every guide before it goes live.

How We Keep Advertisers Out of Our Content

Moving companies pay us for subscriptions, ad spots and leads. That never decides what we write.

  • Advertisers can’t buy, write, edit or approve our content. Our sales team doesn’t take part in writing or editing.
  • “Best movers” lists use our organic ranking. Movers in these lists are ordered by Organic Rank, as explained in How We Rank and Sort Movers. Paying us doesn’t change a mover’s place.
  • Any paid spot on a guide is labeled “Ad” and shown separately from the content. See Our Policy on Ads and Unbiased Rankings.
  • Articles on company profiles are written by the moving company, not by us. They appear in their own section of that company’s profile with the company named as the author, and the company pays a fee to publish them. We check them against our content rules before they go live, but we don’t confirm every claim. They never change a company’s Organic Rank, star rating or reviews.
  • We don’t accept payment for mentions or links in our guides.

How We Keep Content Up to Date

We review our guides regularly and whenever a law, rule or price changes. Each guide shows the date it was last updated. When we change something important, such as a legal requirement or a cost figure, we update the date.

Corrections

If you find a mistake, tell us through Report a Concern. We check every report. When we fix a factual error, we correct the page and update the date. For a significant error, such as wrong legal or cost information, we add a short note at the end of the guide saying what we changed.

Use of AI Tools

We may use AI tools to help with research or first drafts. A person on our editorial team checks the facts, edits the text and approves every guide before it goes live.

Not Professional Advice

Our guides are general information to help you plan a move. They aren’t legal, financial or tax advice. For your own situation, check with the mover, FMCSA or a qualified professional.
