How We Maintain Data Accuracy on My Good Movers
When you compare movers, you need the details to be right: who the company is, where it works, what it offers and whether it is registered. This page explains where our mover information comes from, how often we check it, and what we do when something is wrong.
Where Our Mover Information Comes From
- The mover. Movers give us their company details, service areas and services when they list, and update them in their dashboard.
- Public records. We check registration against federal records (FMCSA) for interstate movers, and against state records where a state licenses movers.
- Our users. Reviews and reports from users tell us when something has changed or looks wrong.
Movers are responsible for keeping their own details accurate. We check them, but we can’t guarantee every detail is correct at every moment.
How We Check Movers Before Listing
- Collect details. Movers give us their USDOT and MC numbers or state license, address, phone number and services. Incomplete listings don’t go live.
- Check records. We check that federal registration is active for interstate movers, and whether the mover is a carrier, a broker or both.
- Check consistency. We compare the company name, address and phone number with public records and the mover’s online presence.
- Publish. The listing goes live once all checks pass. We can still review any listing at any time.
We don’t check the amount or terms of a mover’s insurance. You can see the insurance an interstate mover has on file with FMCSA through the USDOT link on its profile.
How Often We Update Mover Information
- Regular reviews. We review mover profiles every 21 to 30 days, and more often for profiles with a lot of user activity. We check contact details, service areas, services and review trends.
- Registration rechecks. We recheck federal registration every 60 to 90 days, and sooner if something changes.
- Immediate updates. We check a profile straight away when a mover reports a change, its registration status changes, a user reports an error, or there are signs the business has closed, been sold or stopped operating.
How We Keep Cost Information Current
Our moving cost figures come from the data described in our Moving Pricing Methodology. We refresh them every month. Cost figures are estimates for planning. Your real price comes from the written estimate a mover gives you.
What Happens When Information Is Wrong
- Priority check. We check the flagged detail against recent records, and contact the mover if needed.
- Fix or hide. We correct the detail, or hide it until it can be confirmed.
- Pause. If a profile has repeated or serious errors, or its federal registration becomes inactive, we pause it until accurate information is confirmed.
- Record. We log every correction, so we can spot patterns and stop the same problem coming back.
How to Report Wrong Information
- Use the “Report” button on the mover’s profile, or Report a Concern.
- Tell us which detail is wrong, the right detail if you know it, and when you noticed.
- Our team checks it. Most reports about wrong details are checked within 48 hours.
- We correct the listing, or pause it until the detail is confirmed. We may not always reply to you personally, but you’ll see the change on the listing.
Movers can update their own details at any time in their dashboard, or ask us to correct something. See our Terms for Moving Companies.
